But while in Kopenhagen, you must visit the sources. The bus 26 takes the visitors to Carlsberg Brewery which provides the free tour of danish achievements connected with the degustation at the end.
Von Frelsers Kirke
The church of Salvator features the Baroque interior and the 95 m high tower with the splendid panoramic view of the city.
Visitors going here directly from Carlsberg Tour have to be warned : the last 160 steps lead on the outer side of the tower. The views are magnificent, but some sense of direction is necessary.
Rundetarn
The alternative view from the top provides the Round Tower built originally as an astronomic observatory for Christian IV.
Rosenborg Slot
!7th century palace built also for king Christian IV and his family. The royal residence bursts the marbles, golden mirrors, silver lions in the chambers open for visitors.
The underground treasury features the Royal Insignia of Danish kings and queens.
Slotsholmen
The small island Slotsholmen has been the residence of rulers of Denmark for almost 1 000 years.
To see are the ruins of 12th century bishop Abalon’s castle, the museum of armory and the Royal Library.
Although the Christiansborg palace is the seat of Danish Government, some of the chambers are open for guided tours.
Especially interesting are the Royal Apartments used by the present queen for official receptions of foreign authorities.
Statens Museums for Kunst
The National Gallery features the collection of works by danish artists from the 19th century, but also the masterpieces from all over Europe. The great names hanging on the walls include
Rembrandt, Rubens in the neigbourhood of Picasso, Munch and Utrillo.
Nationalmuseet
As the name promises the National Museum hosts the largest exhibition of Danish art. Tourist can find here various Viking weapons, the Golden Chariot of Sun and
the silver cauldron from Gundestrup. The runic stones and famous horns ‘lurs’ used to communicate and for special feasts are worth to stay longer.
