Ten Best Leisure Hotels in Europe 2009 according to Conde Nast Survey

In several weeks time we will meet the results of this year survey commenced by a popular British magazine Conde Nast Traveller.
The readers vote for several tourist products and destinations categorized in various groups.
The hotels are divided into the Leisure and Business categories each with a subcategory covering the continent, or continents.

In this article we want to remind the last years results in the category described as
Hotels: Overseas Leisure Hotels – Europe, Asia Minor & the Russian Federation.
There are too few Russian and Turkey well known hotels, and they were joined to Europe making the competitions tougher.
Regardless of this fact, it is easy to spot the supremacy of Italian hotels located not only in the capital, but scattered all over the country.

In the first ten there are four Italian hotels, and the result is even better in the first twenty, where scored nine hotels form Italy.

All of these hotels are at least hundred years old, or even older, but the historical walls hide modern comfortable equipment, like big screen TV and internet access, new or renovated furniture, and feature wellness or fitness centers in the hotel premises.

The first hotel on the list Four Seasons in Florence proudly presents the visitors art filled interiors of a Renaissance palace located in the heart of Florence, which adds a personal dimension in discovering the great city.

Hotel Splendido became almost obligatory stop for Hollywood stars, who came there as early as Groucho Marx before the War, and as recently as Denzel,Cloney or last year visitors Douglas and Zeta-Jones.

Cipriani in Venice is coverd in the mist of Ernest Hemingway’s pipe who used to sit in Harry’s bar owned by the Cipriani family.

The recognized tradition of Italian charm has been broken by the newcomer hotel Anassa from Cyprus,
which is more the whole spa resort build into the shape of a traditional Cypriot village.
It is also one of the youngest on the list, opened only in 1998 as the fourth location in a family run business Thanos Hotels.
