Saint Lucia is advertised as ‘live the legend’ island, and indeed there is lot of legends covering this mystical place in Caribbean.
You may explore there the locations with traces of activities of legendary tribes of Arawak and Caribs, who settled there millenia years ago.
Legend has it that the site was discovered by Columbus, even if not true, the island soon witnessed the first European settlers, then buccaneers and for over 100 years became the scene of fierce fightings between British and French forces. The iconis symbol of St Lucia Piton mountains were serving as a hideout of marauders and pirates and are worth seeing even only for their beauty. But St Lucia is a volcanic island. The Afro Creole spirit of the slaves, that once worked on the plantations echoes in the notes floating on the air during annual Saint Lucia Jazz Festival.
Another thing that is quite real, but soon may became only a legend are l turtles, that chose the island for the birthing colony.
There are the tours to see these giant reptiles as well as birds and rainforest vegetations.
