Opened in 1995 PortAventura in short time became the most popular theme park in Spain, and the main rival of French Disneyland.
PortAventura indeed has all the features to make it extremely popular, the splendid location, surrounded by natural trees and plants under the sun of Costa Daurada shore, several miles south of Tarragona.
The park has its own railway station, and the regular train trip from Barcelona takes less than two hours.

The Imperial China features legendary Dragon Khan, the rollercoaster, where you hang down eight times within one minute.
The Far West, the biggest area in the park, include water rides Silver River Flume and Grand Canyon Rapids, as well as Stampida ride, during which two mine carts pass each other running in the opposite directions.
The Polynesian area features Tutuki Splash and Sea Odyssey, one of the most unique rides here, where the dynamic cinema changes into a submarine on a journey to the bottom of the ocean.
The Mediterrània burst one of the newest attractions in the park Furius Baco, the fastest roller coaster in Europe with a top speed of 83.9 mph (135 km/h).
The main attraction of Mexico zone is Hurakan Condor, one of the tallest in the world drop towers ( 100 m ).
The rides and splashes are supported by various shows and performances, including the Wild West style stunts and Can Can dancers.
Besides obligatory restaurants and fast food stores there are four 4-star hotels as well as exclusive rooms to stay.
The visitors, who have enough of hanging upside down in the park, can relax in the beach area Costa Caribe with swimming pools and water rides of total area about 9 000 square meters.
