Austria’s Roman Catholic heritage, has the strong influence on the character of holidays usually based around the calendar of Christian observances such as Christmas and Easter.

There are also celebrations connected to the agricultural cycle,
like harvest thanksgiving, and some modern holidays representing more contemporary events, the most important of them is Austria’s National Day.
It commemorates the departure of the last Allied occupying troops after World War II until October 26, 1955.

Epiphany is known rather as The Three Kings Day following the of adoration of three magi, the sculptures of which are always surrounding the crib along with the shepperds.
Crib making has centuries long tradition, one can see them in the churches, also sometimes carried by the people to the neighbours as a symbol of good luck.
