Germany Weather and Climate

In : Germany

The best time to visit Germany is May to October. The average summer daytime temperature is 22°C (72°F) and although during some days may exceed 30 C it is still more comfortable than the climate in Italy or Spain. Unfortunately July is also the time of flooding rains, and as the weather in Germany can change quite rapidly the raincoat may go handy in any weather.

Baltic Sea gets less sun than Mediterranean and its water temperature makes swimming comfortable only during the summer months.
Thorough the year Germany experiences a continental climate, with rather stable temperature and quite predictable weather changes.
There are plenty of sunny days during spring and autumn time, and winter brings the snow and the frost to many of country lakes and small rivers.
The average daytime temperature in winter is 3°C (38°F) lowering sharply with the sunset, which is early at that time ( 17.00 – 18.00 ) .
The snow may not remain though, in the whole country, but there is plenty of it in German Alps and surroundings, providing good base for winter sports ( Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Oberstdorf ).

Required Clothing
